Hazard Profiles

The 2018 State Hazard Mitigation Plan profiles 33 hazards identified by the State Planning Team (SPT) in a Risk Assessment that reviewed hazards profiled in the 2013 SSHMP and identified and evaluated potential new hazards, changes in risk, potential enhancements, and new/changed data. The SPT identified building and structure collapse, cyber-terrorism, opioid addiction response, and gas and liquid pipelines as new/emerging risks in Pennsylvania. Climate change has also been incorporated as a factor affecting the future probability of many hazards, including drought, hurricane, and temperature extremes.
